PSAT 8/9 & PSAT 10
The Michigan Department of Education requires that students in grades 3 and above are assessed annually via state identified summative assessments. These assessments measure student knowledge of Michigan’s academic standards in English language arts (ELS), mathematics, science, and social studies.
The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) is a 21st Century assessment given to students in grades 3-8 and grade 11. The online assessment, which was first administered in 2015, is designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards.
The Michigan Merit Examination (MME) assesses students in grade 11 and eligible students in grade 12 based on Michigan high school standards. The MME is administered each spring, and consists of three components:
- College Board SAT
- WorkKeys® job skills assessments in reading, mathematics, and "locating information"
- M-STEP Science and Social Studies
The PSAT is administered to students in grades 8, 9, and 10 to provide schools, students, and parents with information on what students know in ELA and mathematics. The PSAT also helps students prepare for the SAT college entrance exam given to high school juniors as part of the Michigan Merit Examination (MME)
