Warren Consolidated Schools Offers a Transitional Kindergarten Program
Transitional Kindergarten, also known as TK, was created for
students who would benefit from an additional year of growth between
preschool and kindergarten.
The program integrates academics with critical social and
emotional development standards, allows students to take advantage of
the benefits of entering kindergarten at an older age, and ensures
students have the opportunity for a full-year of school in a
student-directed active learning environment before entering
kindergarten.
The WCS Transitional Kindergarten program is a FREE, full-day
program that focuses on social/emotional development, oral language,
fundamental literacy skills, balanced literacy, and mathematics.
Students benefiting most from the Transitional Kindergarten program are
those who turn five (5) between September 1st and December 1st.
Placement in the program is based on parental request, kindergarten
readiness assessment, and teacher recommendation.
The Transitional Kindergarten program is available to district
residents, as well as out of district Macomb County residents, through
the Schools of Choice program.
